We Pray Too Much!

I know you ask yourself, "Did this intercessor just say we pray too much?" Yes, she did, and I will explain in a minute.
First, let me say that I have been communing with God about this for a while, questioning and trying to understand how, when, and if we should pray about certain things. These questions arose as I studied His word more and received more revelation of what was being said.
Now, let me say this: God's word is filled with many promises and blessings for those who believe, and I think we have not received the revelation about how it all works. We have not received many promises and blessings for those who believe. Let me give you a few examples:
1 Peter 2:24 in the NKJV says, "Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we having died to sins, might live for righteousness-by whose stripes you were healed."
I love words. Reading them carefully and dissecting the meaning can lead to a new revelation. The tail end of the verse says, "By whose stripes you WERE healed." Were, being past tense in this translation, tells me that I have already been healed because of the works of the cross. So, do I have to pray for healing?
Let's look at a few more:
Philippians 4:19 NLT: "And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus."
Psalms 115:14 KJV: "The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children."
Again, if these promises have been given to me, if God has already told me that He will supply my needs and increase me and my children, do I need to pray for finances and increase?
How about two more:
Numbers 23:8 NLT: "But how can I curse those whom God has not?"
Isaiah 54:17 NKJV: "No weapon formed against you shall prosper."
Many verses of scripture (promises of God) tell of our divine protection from the enemy. Yet, so many people fearfully wear themselves out in worry about what people are doing and saying to them and about them. If God's word says I can't be cursed and no weapon formed against me will prosper, then do I need to pray when specific circumstances arise? Side Note: (The scripture said the weapon formed will not prosper, but it didn't say it wouldn't be formed, but that's a message for another day.)
I am posing all these examples to work your mind and reframe your prayer thinking.
So, by now, I know you are wondering if you have to pray at all. The answer is yes and no.
Sometimes, prayer is needed, but how we pray makes a difference. (For more about the strategies of prayer, fill out the "Get in touch" form on my website to find out how to attend prayer boot camp)
But for now, let's talk about the examples given above. When we encounter situations in our lives where the promises in the Bible are not fully manifested, there are two things we need to do. The first one is easy. The Bible says in Job 22:28 NKJV, "You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you..."
God has already decreed these things over our lives. When we see them lacking, we should ALSO decree them so that they may come into full manifestation. It is as simple as saying, "Lord, Your word says by the stripes of Jesus I have already been healed. I stand on this word today; therefore, this ailment must go, cease, and dissipate in the name of Jesus. Amen!"
See easy peasy. Now, the next thing you must do is more cha, and I speak from experience. And that is to walk out your faith, to trust and believe that the manifestation will come. In Mark 11:22-24, Jesus talks to his disciples about having faith in God and believing without doubt.
This is the hard part when you have bills that are due and creditors calling. Or when you have a diagnosis from the doctor, and you are experiencing the symptoms in your body. Believe me, I know it's hard; I'm a living witness, actually still waiting on the manifestation of things in my own life. But just because something is hard doesn't mean we shouldn't do it, right? So, if making declarations and walking out our faith is the strategy God has given us to receive the manifestation of His promises, that's what we need to do because prayers of begging and pleading WILL NOT WORK!
Take to heart all you've read today and meditate on it. Try the Spirit by the Spirit, and let God minister to your heart and give you revelation. Then, Stop Praying So Much!
